Seeking Special Ingredients

Leslie, Genevie and Brock visit unique local markets to find the right ingredients and chat with Forte Tapas owner Nina Manchev.

On the August episode of Las Vegas Weekly’s Second Helping food podcast, we’re cooking with nostalgia, digging into old family recipes and hitting our favorite Las Vegas grocery stores to find the sometimes rare, always delicious specialty ingredients that bring those favorite dishes together. Cardenas Markets and Seafood City are two local spots that hold a special place in our foodie hearts. We’re also checking in with Nina Manchev at Forte Tapas, who’s staying connected with her regular customers through monthly online cooking classes that use some of the amazing European ingredients available at Forte’s bodega-style retail spot. But first, we’re taking you along on our summer vacation getaways and sharing all the food and drinks we enjoyed during recent escapes from the desert. And of course we’re sharing the best things we ate last month, whether it came from our own backyards or a fancy restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip.
